HOW IT WORKS

Commissioning a Portrait: A Simple and Personalised Process

Commissioning a drawing or painting is a straightforward process, designed to accommodate clients worldwide. I work primarily from high-resolution digital images that you provide. For clients in the UK, there is also the option to visit my studio or for me to come to you to capture the necessary images. Photos can be sent via email or shared through one of my social media platforms.

To achieve the most accurate representation, the photo should be as sharp and detailed as possible. The higher the resolution and quality of the image, the better the final portrait will be. I also encourage you to send multiple images in addition to your preferred one. This helps me capture your unique features and accurately gauge skin tone, eye, and hair color.

If you’re unsure which photo would work best, don’t worry—I’m here to help. I’ll guide you through the pros and cons of each image you send and provide recommendations on which will yield the best results.

I have experience working with clients across the globe and am happy to provide progress updates at regular intervals, if desired.

The time required to complete a portrait varies, depending on the size, complexity, and number of subjects. Typically, portraits take between one week and one month to complete.

Please note that oil paintings require additional time to dry. While the surface may feel dry within a few days, the paint remains soft underneath for much longer. Therefore, please allow a minimum of one month for the painting to dry before it’s ready for transport. In some cases, especially when shipping via courier or during certain weather conditions, additional drying time may be necessary.
